Director of Youth Player Development

Coach Gausman, a graduate of Slippery Rock University, played collegiate basketball and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Education.  Coach Gausman was recruited back to Erie to both Coach & Teach.  He coached at both the middle and high school levels including. Hs positions included:

 

  1. 7thand 8th grade boys basketball coach, Cathedral Center (1984-1988)
  2. JV/Varsity assistant boys coach, Academy High School (1988-1991)
  3. Head Varsity Boys Coach, Mercyhurst Preparatory School (1992-1997)
  4. Head Varsity Boys Coach, East High School (1997-2003)

Coach Gausman took a hiatus from coaching to spend more time with his children and returned to coaching recently.

From 2003 until 2015 Coach Guasman took a hiatus from coaching to enjoy him family.  He returned to coaching in 2015 as the Head Coach of St. Luke’s Junior Varity program from 2015 till 2018.  In 2017, Coach Gausman began coaching the Erie Defenders in the AAU/ Travel Circuit, both locally and regionally.  In Summer of 2019 he joined E2A2 to share is vast level of coaching and training experience to prepare young athletes for advanced level of play requited at the high school and collegiate level.

Coaching Highlights

 

Led High School (Academy HS in1991 and East HS in 2000) teams to twice to District 10 titles.  Led Academy HS to a Western Final appearance in 1991 and East HS to a semifinal appearance in 2000.  (Final Four in State of Pennsylvania) and Western Semi-final appearance (Final 8 in State of Pa.)  Coach Gausman’s achievements included the best winning percentage in East High School history with a record of 87-44.  In his tenure at St. Luke’s he achieved a record of 40 and 6.  Lastly as he entered his first season of AAU basketball he produced a winning record of 11 and 2 in competitive play.
